In 1995, the National Purchasing Institute (NPI) established a program designed to recognize organizational excellence in public procurement.

This prestigious award is earned by those organizations that demonstrate excellence by obtaining a high score based on standardized criteria. The criteria are designed to measure innovation, professionalism, productivity, e-procurement, and leadership attributes of the procurement organization. SPO has earned this distinction every year since 2003. |

Outstanding Agency Accreditation Award (O4A) |

The National Institute for Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) confers the Outstanding Agency Accreditation Achievement Award (O4A) those agencies that lead the public procurement profession.

National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) |

National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP). [http://www.nigp.org] Since 1944, developing, supporting and promoting public procurement practitioners through premier educational and research programs, technical services and advocacy initiatives. NIGP has over 2,600 member agencies representing over 16,000 professionals across the United States, Canada and countries outside of North America, the Institute is international in its reach. NIGP supports the recognition and esteem for the government procurement profession and its dedicated practitioners. SPO staff participate in Arizona State Capitol Chapter, the local chapter of NIGP.
